The Director of Student Affairs (DSA) of Rufus Giwa Polytechnic, Mr. Bayo Elebute, on Monday, June 29, 2026, commenced enforcement against campus bikers accused of charging students above the approved transport fare.
The action followed persistent complaints from students over the collection of ₦300 by some SUG bikers despite the Students' Union Government's directive that the approved campus transport fare remains ₦200.
During an inspection across the campus, the DSA identified some bikers who were allegedly violating the directive. As part of the enforcement, the jacket of the bikers' General Secretary, bearing the identification number 003, was confiscated, while efforts were made to identify another biker with the identification number 079.
Mr. Elebute also directed that no tricycles, motorcycles, or other vehicles should park at the institution's main gate, stating that the measure is aimed at reducing congestion and preventing accidents within the campus environment.
The Directorate assured students that monitoring would continue to ensure compliance with the approved transport fare and other campus transportation regulations.
