The Council of Governors (COG) on Tuesday, June 2, 2026, held a meeting with the Chief Officer of the Entrepreneurship Education Centre (EEC) and the Director of Student Affairs, Mr Bayo Elebute, to discuss issues relating to entrepreneurship registration, practical exercises, and student identification cards.
During the meeting, the Chief Officer of the Entrepreneurship Education Centre urged governors to sensitise students in their respective departments about the entrepreneurship practical exercise scheduled for the second semester.
He explained that registration for the exercise would commence immediately after students resume for the second semester and that students would have only the first week of resumption to complete the registration process. According to him, no student would be accommodated after the registration deadline.
The Chief Officer further disclosed that the practical exercise fee would not exceed ₦2,000, assuring students that efforts were being made to keep the cost affordable.
Speaking during the meeting, The Directorate of student affairs Mr Bayo Elebute, appealed to the Entrepreneurship Education Centre to consider extending the registration period. He noted that one week might not be sufficient for students to complete all necessary registration procedures and requested that the registration window be increased to two weeks.
Mr. Elebute also encouraged governors to mobilise students in their various departments and ensure active participation in the entrepreneurship practical exercise, describing it as an important aspect of students’ academic development.
Addressing the issue of student identification cards, he urged governors to inform their course mates and departmental colleagues to come to their classrooms with the receipts issued during the ID card application process. He explained that a verification committee would visit classrooms across departments, and students would be required to present their receipts before receiving their identification cards.
The Entrepreneurship Committee also informed the council that the practical logbook required for the Entrepreneurship Education Development (EED) exercise in the second semester would cost ₦1,000.
In addition, the Chief Officer stated that whenever EED practical sessions are scheduled, lectures fixed for the same period should be suspended to enable students participate fully in the exercise. The Chief Officer disclosed that discussions had already been held with the body responsible for timetable scheduling to ensure proper coordination of academic and entrepreneurship activities.
The officials further emphasized the importance of entrepreneurship education in equipping students with practical skills and knowledge that would prepare them for self-employment and career opportunities after graduation.
The meeting concluded with a call on governors to effectively disseminate the information to students in their respective departments and encourage full participation in all entrepreneurship-related activities. Council members were also urged to ensure that students comply with the registration requirements and stay informed about subsequent updates from the Entrepreneurship Education Centre and the institution’s management.
