The Council of Governors (COG) recently organized a welcome gathering for members, invited guests, and emeritus personnel in a lively and entertaining atmosphere.
The event commenced with an opening prayer, followed by the introduction of invited guests, emeritus personalities, and the incumbent executives of the association. Members and guests were entertained with music performances, song requests, sing-along sessions, and dance presentations by invited dancers.
The SUG Vice President, Oge Temitope Florence, popularly known as Mama Tee, also graced the occasion. Games were played during the event, while prizes were presented to winners.
Speaking during the gathering, the President of the Council of Governors, Folorunsho Modupe Ayomide, welcomed newly inducted members and invited guests. He urged council members to work together despite coming from different departments, stressing that protecting students’ rights and promoting their welfare remain the primary responsibilities of every branch.
According to him, unity within the council is fundamental to achieving its goals. He also appreciated God for granting members the strength and ability to carry out their responsibilities effectively.
The event continued with a musical performance by Timmy D.
The Director of Student Affairs, Bayo Elebute, was later introduced at the gathering. In his address, he appreciated stakeholders and welcomed students back to school. He disclosed that the council had been working behind the scenes to ensure smooth academic activities for students, adding that several requests, including the provision of chalkboards, had been approved.
He further revealed that a group chat had been created for all HND II governors to maintain communication after graduation and ensure easy dissemination of information across departments.
Mr. Elebute also addressed issues relating to indecent dressing, noting that a new memo would soon be released, while the existing penalty of one-semester suspension remains in effect. He advised governors to properly inform members of their respective departments about the regulation.
The school’s Vice President, Oge Temitope Florence, also delivered a speech in which she appreciated invited guests, newly elected governors, and their deputies. She stated that the SUG President wishes all students a peaceful and productive stay on campus.
An emeritus member, Obadaye Temitope, also addressed participants and encouraged student leaders to balance their leadership responsibilities with academic studies. He emphasized the importance of maintaining good relationships with both students and lecturers, noting that governors serve as a bridge between both parties.
The event also featured the official launch of a new COG logo tag by the SUG Vice President, Oge Temitope Florence.
The programme concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by the chairman, who appreciated everyone for attending the gathering.
