A student of Rufus Giwa Polytechnic, identified as Audi Emmanuel, has been found dead in his residence outside the campus, sparking concern among residents and the student community.

The 20-year-old, said to be a Computer Engineering student, was reportedly discovered in his room along Awolowo Road in the Emure-Ile area of Owo. The incident, which occurred on Tuesday, has left many in shock.

Earlier reports suggested that the deceased was a student of the Computer Engineering Department. However, this claim has been disputed by the Head of Department, Engr. Idowu, who stated that the name does not appear in the department’s records and is not known to any class representatives. He added that if the deceased is confirmed to be a student of the institution, he is likely from another department.

According to sources, the body was found in circumstances suggesting a possible case of suicide. However, authorities have cautioned that investigations are still ongoing to determine the exact cause of death.

Police operatives were said to have visited the scene shortly after the discovery, evacuating the body to a morgue for preservation and further examination. No official confirmation has yet been made regarding the circumstances surrounding the incident.

Some residents in the area claimed that the deceased had only recently moved into the apartment a few days prior to the incident, though this information has not been independently verified.

The police have expressed condolences to the family of the deceased and urged members of the public to seek support during periods of emotional distress, emphasizing that help is always available.

As of the time of filing this report, authorities say investigations are ongoing.
