The Governor of Ondo State, Dr. Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, has approved the appointment of Engr. (Dr.) Lawson Olorunwa Sunday as the Acting Rector of Rufus Giwa Polytechnic (RUGIPO).
The appointment, which takes effect from April 25, 2026, follows the retirement of the former Rector, Dr. Adegun Simeon Olurunwa, on April 24, 2026.
Engr. Olorunwa, a Chief Lecturer in the Department of Agricultural and Bio-Environmental Engineering Technology, holds a Ph.D. in Agricultural and Environmental Engineering Technology. He is also a registered engineer with over 25 years of experience in the Nigerian polytechnic system.
Prior to his appointment, he served as the Deputy Rector of the institution and has held several key administrative positions, including Director of Works and Head of Department.
A native of Ajagba in Irele Local Government Area, Ondo State, Engr. Olorunwa is expected to steer the affairs of the institution in an acting capacity pending further developments.
