SEECOND SEMESTER TO COMMENCE IMMEDIATELY, AFTER NASU AND SSANIP STRIKE SUSPENSION TODAY

NASU and SSANIP unanimously agreed to suspend the indefinite strike at her Congress Meeting, held at Adekunle Ajasin Auditorium, located inside the institution.
However, in reaction to this, the Management of Rufus Giwa Polytechnic have ordered the immediate commencement of academic activities in the Second Semester of 2020/2021 Academic session indefinitely.
This was stated in a Circular Letter, from the office of the Directorate of Academic Affairs to all members of the polytechnic community this evening.
According to the circular, ''both staff and students of the polytechnic are to ensure that lectures and all other academic activities commerce immediately''.
However, in an interview with the NASU Chairman after the resolution, Comr. Obayoriade Adebayo explained that the Ondo State Governor, Oluwarotimi Akeredolu promised to pay substantial salaries of both teaching and non teaching staff of the institution within this month of November, 2021; stressing that the school's academic programmes commence immediately, including lectures.
Meanwhile, in another interview with the SSANIP Chairman, Comr. Chris Olowolade stressed that both NASU and SSANIP only suspended the indefinite strike, but did not call off the strike action.
In his words, ''We didn't call off the strike, we suspended the strike. If the time expected by the Government and Management to pay our salaries elapse, we will not hesitate to resume the strike''.
Furthermore, both Chairmen acknowledged the students for their perseverance and understanding throughout the period of the indefinite strike; stressing that the students were also considered over the strike suspension.
Meanwhile, all students are enjoined to resume school, in order to receive the dividends of the education they deserve.
