RECTOR: NO PROGRAMME CAN OPERATE IN AN INSTITUTION WITHOUT ACCREDITATION

The Rector of Rufus Giwa Polytechnic, Owo, (RUGIPO), Gani Ogundahunsi has stressed that the ongoing National Board of Technical Education (NBTE), Accreditation Exercise is meant for getting legitimate approval to operate new and existing educational programmes in the institution.

Ogundahunsi said this during an interview with Journalists after the conclusion of the Opening Session Programme of the NBTE Accreditation Exercise, at the 800 Seaters Theatre today Tuesday, 7th of September, 2021.

He explained that the programme has always been the duty of the NBTE regulatory body, which is being organized across every Polytechnics in Nigeria.

Moreover, Ogundahunsi stressed that the ongoing accreditation which started on Monday, 6th of September, will last for one week (6th - 10th of September, 2021).

He further added that the accreditation is usually carried out annually, biannually, triennially, or more, depending on the institutional programmes being accredited.

Meanwhile, Ogundahunsi appreciates members of the NBTE Accreditation Team, who came from different geographical zone for this year's accreditation and the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFUND), for her support towards the infrastructural development of the citadel.

However, the leader of the accreditation team, Muhammed Mustapha said that the event was meant to ensure that institutions maintain the standard of education.

In addendum, Mustapha appreciated the citadel for her warm reception and hospitality.

Dignitaries present at the event were Rector, Gani Ogundahunsi, Deputy Rector of Academic,  Engr. Lawson, NBTE Leader, Alhaji Muhammed Mustapha, Registrar, Sule Atiku, Dean of Student Affairs, Henry Olu-Braimoh, Deans, HODs', Lecturers and others.
