The management of Rufus Giwa Polytechnic, Owo (RUGIPO) has announced the official Academic Calendar for the 2025/2026 Academic Session, following the approval of the Acting Rector, Mr. Olorunwa Simon Adegun, on behalf of the Academic Board.
According to a circular issued by the Directorate of Academic Affairs and signed by Mr. Ayodeji Akinsanmi, Director of Academic Affairs, the new session will commence on Monday, November 17, 2025, with the resumption and registration of fresh students, including hostel allocation and orientation programmes.
Returning students (excluding those on SIWES) are expected to resume on Monday, November 24, 2025, while registration and hostel allocation for them will run until Friday, December 5, 2025.
Lectures for both new and returning students will begin on Monday, December 8, 2025. The matriculation ceremony for all newly admitted students has been scheduled for Friday, January 30, 2026.
The First Semester is expected to end with examinations between Monday, March 2, and Friday, March 20, 2026, while SIWES students will begin their lectures on Monday, March 2, continuing till Friday, May 1, 2026. The semester will officially close on Friday, May 15, 2026.
The Second Semester will begin on Monday, May 25, 2026, with lectures running till Friday, August 14, 2026. The Students’ Union Week is slated for Monday, July 27, to Friday, July 31, 2026, while semester examinations will hold from Monday, August 17, to Friday, September 4, 2026, marking the end of the academic session.
The Acting Rector, Mr. Olorunwa Simon Adegun, urged all students both fresh and returning to prepare adequately for the new session. He emphasized that the approved calendar represents “a renewed commitment to academic excellence, discipline, and restoration in RUGIPO.”
Students are encouraged to resume promptly, complete their registrations without delay, and adhere to all institutional regulations for a smooth and productive session.
