Rufus Giwa Polytechnic, Owo has been renamed as Ondo State University, Owo.
The change was announced by the Secretary to the State Government, Princess Oladunni Odu at a meeting on Tuesday with stakeholders of Rufus Giwa Polytechnic as well as Chiefs from Owo and Isuada communities respectively.
The Polytechnic which is now Ondo State University, Owo is expected to begin it admission of students into Degree programs during the 2024/2025 academic session.
According to Precision Online Newspaper, the current Polytechnic education system will co-exist with the new University structure until it is phased out.
“The polytechnic Governing Council, management team, Deans of Faculties , High Chiefs representing, Owo, Isuada and Ondo State senior government officials headed by Oladuni Odu attended,” a source at the meeting told Precision Online Newspaper.
