RUGIPO Alumni Awards ₦117,000 Scholarship to Student

 

The Alumni Association of Rufus Giwa Polytechnic, Owo, Ondo State, has awarded a ₦117,000 scholarship to Ilariogun Christianah Tosin, a National Diploma II student of Science Laboratory Technology in the Faculty of Applied Sciences, to cover her outstanding tuition fees.

Christianah, who was said to have struggled to pay her fees from ND I to ND II due to financial hardship, had earlier informed her Head of Department about her plight, prompting the intervention of the Alumni Association and her department.

The scholarship was formally presented by the Dean of Student Affairs, Mr. Henry Olubraimo, during a brief ceremony attended by key officials of the institution.

In addition to the Alumni Association’s support, the Faculty of Applied Sciences and the SLT Department contributed extra funds to assist Christianah with her upkeep.

Speaking at the presentation, Mr. Olubraimo praises Christianah’s courage in speaking up and commended the joint efforts of the alumni and faculty in ensuring no student is left behind due to financial constraints.

Christianah expressed her gratitude, noting that the scholarship would ease her financial burden and motivate her to excel academically.

Others Present were the SLT Departmental President, Comrade Ojo Winner; SUG President, Comrade Aigbodion Shane Thompson; the HOD of SLT; the Faculty Dean of Applied Sciences; the Faculty Secretary; the Director of the Career Service Centre; the school’s counsellor, “Iya Sasere,” and other notable staff members.
