RUGIPO matriculates over 3,000 students

The Ondo state-owned Rufus Giwa Polytechnic has admitted over 3,000 new students at its 32nd matriculation ceremony held on Friday.

Addressing the Students, the Rector of the Institution, Mr. Olorunwa Simon Adegun expressed pleasure at the students’ commitment and urged them to remain focused on their academic goals. 

He emphasized that the polytechnic maintains strict policy of zero tolerance for misconduct, particularly in relation to cultism and cult-related activities. 

Adegun warned students to be cautious in their choice of friends to avoid being enticed into depravity.

He also advised the students to be mindful of their upcoming first-semester exams for the 2024/2025 academic session. 

He also reminded them of the serious consequences of examination malpractice, assault on invigilators, or engaging in any inappropriate behavior during exams. 

He stressed that students should refrain from bringing phones or similar devices into examination venues, noting that any violation of these rules could lead to expulsion.

However, the Acting Rector expressed his gratitude to Ondo State Governor, Hon. Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, for his continuous support in addressing the institution’s needs. 

He noted the Governor’s efforts to improve the polytechnic’s image, including his directive to organize convocation ceremony, which he said, had not been held for over a decade.
