In a major push for cleanliness and hygiene, the executives of the Mass Communication department in Rufus Giwa polytechnic , Owo have led a campaign to distribute hand gloves and hair covers to all chefs and cooks working in the department.
The campaign was spearheaded by the department president, Gideon ibitoye, who emphasized the importance of maintaining high standards of cleanliness. "It is in our plight to fight against uncleanness, as cleanliness is next to godliness," Gideon stated.
In an interview with the departmental treasurer, who filled in for the welfare director, expressed her happiness in being a part of this important project. "We are thrilled to be able to provide these essential hygiene items to our hardworking chefs and cooks," she said.
A total of 500 pieces of hand gloves were distributed as well as 10 head covers, which the department claims can last a single chef up to 3 months.
While most of the chefs showed their appreciation for the initiative, a small fragment seemed somewhat pessimistic. However, Gideon acknowledged that 100% acceptance was never expected, and advised students to work together with the executives to achieve the set goals.
"We urge students to refrain from buying snacks from any unhygienic stands," Gideon said. "In our determination to make the Mass Communication department great again, the association will go the extra mile to ensure strict compliance, even if that means the intervention of the students' union government."
The campaign is part of the department's ongoing efforts to promote cleanliness and hygiene among its staff and students, ensuring a healthy and safe environment for all, and a sub-part of the executive's plight to creating a new mass communication, which includes all parameters, stating that the next fight is against malpractice.
