Student Representative Council (SRC) of Rufus Giwa Polytechnic Owo(Rugipo) approve Student union government (SUG ) executives budget in 3rd inaugural sitting.
The Sitting held at the school Central Cafe on the 11th July 2024, According to the Senate President, John Paul Alabi,he said it is the 3rd inaugural sitting, which is also the last sitting for the semester.
During the meeting the SUG executives were asked to defend their Budget, fortunately only three executives were being attended to, namely; the SUG president, Vice president and it General secretary, this was due to the level of insecurity and weather condition for the people's
The SUG president was called to give account on how he will spent the traveling allowance worth 300,000 naira and afterwards, the amount was reduced to 60,000 naira by the SRC.
Meanwhile, most of the budget presented by the SUG executives were either reduced, pended or cancelled including women's program tendered by the Vice President and the pen education program tendered by the General Secretary.
In an interview after the meeting senate President John Paul said that the pending budget was done due to some financial reasons, adding that 65% percent do pay SUG fees every session.
Speaking, SUG General secretary, Alex smith,expresses his feelings, said the budget approved by the SRC is unfair,looking at the economy situation of the country.
He added that the pended incentives which was mentioned in the budget shouldn't be pended,as the period allocated for the session is short,knowing that's the only beneficiary gift students get from the Union.
However, the Hall Chair lady, Miss. Bolaji was unable present the Annual Budget and Financial Statement due to not coming with enough copies of the budget.
