MASS COMMUNICATION WINS COMPETITION DEFEATS ELECTRICAL ENGINEERING 2-0

 




The highly anticipated final Cup between the Mass communication vs Electrical Engineering departmental football fixtures took place today at the Rufus Giwa Polytechnic,Owo(RUGIPO), stadium.




The Mass Communication team(VOICE FC) took the leading win which was scored by Dada Timilehin and Abel Nero bringing, scoring two goals in the second half.


Electric and Electrical Engineering struggled to score, with several attempts cleared by the Mass Communication defense.


Despite the efforts of the Electrical Engineering team, a setback occurred when their goalkeeper made a mistake, leading to another goal for Voice FC.


The match ended at 5:18 pm, with Mass Communication emerging victorious with a score of 2-0.


Meanwhile, the Electrical engineering Captain sustained an injury and was taken out of the field.


The Voice FC team and their fans were however overjoyed while the Coach of Electrical Engineering in contrast, expressed disappointment and referred the match to be a bias targeting the sports director and referee.



               AWARD CEREMONY


 "Balogun Olamilekan received an award as the Highest Goal Scorer.

"Agbede Kehinde received the Most Valuable Player award, while Akinkuroye David received the Best Goalkeeper award".


The Taxation Football Club was awarded the Best Team of the  tournament, while Abulogbon Odunayo( Arshavin) received the best goal of the tournament.

Also the best coach was awarded to Ilesanmi Toye.


The Head of Department of Electrical Engineering, presented silver medals to his team.


The Directorate of students affairs, Dr Bayo Elebute presented the gold medal to the Mass Communication team as the winner of 2024, while the captain, Olamilekan Adedeji(Kante) received the golden Cup.


Meanwhile, the captain of Mass Communication in his speech expressed his team's determination to win and felt fulfilled as they won last since 2017.


The Students Union Government(SUG)Sport Director, Comrade Abulogbon Ayodeji (Arshavin), praised the teams for their performance.


However, the SUG President, Comrade Omote Temidayo commended the sports director for his efforts and dedication towards the match and encouraged all football clubs in the school to prepare for the upcoming champion league.
