SRC ELECTION: Alabi Johnpaul emerges SENATE PRESIDENT
The Students Representative Council (SRC), of Rufus Giwa polytechnic,Owo (RUGIPO) has declared Comrade Alabi Johnpaul as the new elected Senate President.
This declaration was made by the Independent Students Electorial Committee's Chairman(ISEC),Comrade Zacheaus Ojo after the election held on Friday 1 March, 2024.
RUGIPO Press learnt that Johnpaul, who is a student from the department of Civil Engineering who poled 20 Votes defeated his counterpart, Olopete Samuel Oluwadamilola (bigsam) from the department of Mass Communication, who has 11 votes.
According to him, "A total votes of 40, was registered while a total votes of 31, was casted.
Other results included ; " Akinsikun Tope(Fela) from the department of Computer science won the position of deputy Senate President with total votes of 29.
Ogunlana Joseph (Visionary leader)from the department of Computer science won the position of the Mace bearer with total votes of 31.
"Omorigi Itunu Comfort, from the department Banking and Finance won the position of Chief Whip with the total votes of 20.
" Akinbolaji Taye Joseph from the department of Nutrition and dietetics, won the position of Chief clerk , with the total votes of 30.
" Ogunboye Adeniyi(Jhaysam) from the department of Public Administration,won the position of deputy Clerk with the total votes 16.
The Senate President, Comr Alabi Johnpaul who was elated about the outcome of the election, however promised to be a good leader and fight for the rights of the students.
