The Non-Academic Staff Union of Polytechnics (NASUP) and Senior Staff Association of Nigeria (SSAP), Rufus Giwa Polytechnic, Owo (RUGIPO) chapter, staged a protest on Tuesday denouncing the appointment of the acting council chairman.

Speaking to RUGIPO Press at the school gate, NASUP chairman, Comrade Aro Julius, asserted that the institution did not require an acting council chairman, citing unfair treatment by Dr. Mrs. Omoniyi Olubunmi.

During the protest, staff displayed placards with various inscriptions, including "We don't want Dr. Mrs. Omoniyi Olubunmi, She's Corrupt," "We don't recognize AG. council chairman," and "Enough of Financial Leakage - Rugipo staff Cry out."

Chairman Julius squarely blamed Dr. Omoniyi Olubunmi for negligence toward the institution's affairs and failure to fulfill obligations to the union.

Senate chairman, Saka Olokugboye, emphasized the staff's opposition to Dr. Omoniyi Olubunmi's leadership, accusing her of financial mismanagement and neglecting staff welfare, resulting in unpaid salaries and depletion of the institution's finances over the past three months.

Furthermore, Olokugboye disclosed the staff's objection to Dr. Omoniyi Olubunmi's planned meeting on March 27, 2024.

In contrast, Olokugboye lauded Ondo State Governor, Lucky Ayedatiwa, for ensuring staff salaries were paid amid the turmoil.
