RUGIPO RESCHEDULES DATE FOR 2022 NIGERIA POLYTECHNIC GAMES (NIPOGA)

Ondo State owned Polytechnic, Rufus Giwa Polytechnic, Owo, RUGIPO, has rescheduled the 2022 Nigeria Polytechnic Games (NIPOGA).


Rugipo Press learnt that the games will be held on the first and second week of January, 2023.



The new date was unanimously agreed upon by the Technical Committee, NIPOGA Chairman and members during a closed door meeting at Adekunle Ajasin Auditorium, within the Polytechnic, on Thursday, 29th of September, 2022.


According to report, the 21st Edition of NIPOGA, which was earlier scheduled to commence from 20th of November till 13th of December, 2022., with over 300 accredited participants will now come up in January, 2023.


However, in an interview with the Rector and Chairman of the NIPOGA competition,  Gani Ogundahunsi, explained that the main games were postponed to January, because they want great measures of preparation and additional facilities to be in place.


Ogundahunsi stressed that the date for the NIPOGA preliminary games remain unchanged, as the GROUP A Zonal qualifiers will commence from 11th to 15th of October, 2022., while the GROUP B Zonal preliminary will hold from 24th to 29th of October, 2022., at the institution's Sport Complex.


In the same vein, One of the Sport Coaches in RUGIPO, Mr. Akadere Abiodun Emmanuel while speaking said, he was glad that the biannual games would be held in the institution and they are prepared for the tournaments.


He expressed readiness and preparedness towards the games


 "We are on top of the gear and we are prepared''.


He said participants will participate on nine (9) major sport events such as Athletics, Volleyball, Table Tennis, Basketball, Football, Lawn Tennis, Badminton, Scramble and Chess, which will be for both male and female categories.


''We are participating in all the games being the host and we expect beautiful results''. Akadere said


Dignitaries who were present at the meeting included; Rector, Gani Ogundahunsi, Technical Committee Chairman, Alhaji Dangana, Technical Committee Secretary, Mr. Akinbode Agboola, Coach Angelo, Coach Akadere Abiodun, S.U.G. Sport Director, Kayode Ayobami (Silver), and others.
