The faculty of Social Science and Management of Rufus Giwa Polytechnic, Owo, has trashed the faculty of Environmental, 2 to nill, during the 2022 Inter-faculty tournament (Olympic Festival) of the institution to emerge winner of the tournament.
The finals of the tournament was played at the institution's sport Complex at 4pm.
According to the Faculty's Sport Director, Obakulijo Oluwasoji Jnr, the Faculty which comprises of Mass Communication, Social Development, Library Science and Language Departments had been on the down line for 15years without raising the trophy.
"Our first match, we drew against the faculty of Engineering and also our second match was also a draw with the faculty of Business. We saw a win in our third match with a 2-1 win against the faculty of Applied Science" the Faculty Sport Director said.
The winning which brought the Trophy to the Faculty saw Obakulijo Oluwasoji Jnr. Scoring in the 35th minute of the first half and Dotun Adebayo sealing the win with a goal at the 85 minutes to emerge as the winner of the 2022 Inter-faculty tournament (Olympic Festival).
During a telephone interview with Oluwasoji, he unveiled how happy he was to be the first faculty of social sciences and Communication Studies' sport Director to win the trophy for his faculty.
" Seriously, I was so happy and astonished to experience this level of excellence, I never knew we could make an history today but with God all things are possible.
"However, I use this medium to commend my fellow player for their hard work, my faculty president for the full support he offered and our fellow supporters who came around to cheer us up during the match," he said.
