RESPONSE TO A MYOPIC, GORMLESS SCHOOL OWNER'S DEROGATORY MESSAGE (STEPHEN OLUMIDE, OGUNLEYE) AGAINST RUGIPO

Since the collapse of the Soviet Union, there has been a general increase in corruption affecting many sectors in our dear nation, Nigeria.

Moreover, corruption has become a widespread phenomenon in higher institutions in countries of independent states.

Corruption has not only eaten deep into the fabrics of our economic sector in Nigeria but it has also made its way into the educational system of Nigeria which has a very drastic effect on every stages or level of education, from the primary level to tertiary institution.

I am writing against the allegations hurled at my school, Rufus Giwa Polytechnic, Owo by a so-called school Propietor, Mr Stephen Olumide, Ogunleye.

Rufus Giwa Polytechnic was rated the best polytechnic in South-West in Nigeria, some years ago (Do your findings and take note).

No institution in Nigeria, I mean none, can lay claims to perfection (Not  even the school you graduated from, Mr Stephen.

Rufus Giwa Polytechnic is not laying claims to perfection, and of course, it cannot be totally free from whatever is wrong with Nigeria as a country today.

However,  as bad as Nigeria educational system is, Nigeria still produce brilliant graduates from different institutions every year and  RUGIPO is not an exception.

*"Wherever there's bad, there will always be good"* .

Mac Twain, once said and I quote, *_Generalization is false_* , including this one made by Stephen Olumide Ogunleye that the the only institution in Nigeria that deceive people in Nigeria is my noble institution, Rufus Giwa Polytechnic, Owo graduated from.

Mr Stephen, I can tell you boldly that RUGIPO has produced thousands of brilliant, intelligent and sound students who are out there performing excellently in their area of specializations. All the students admitted into the institutions must have at least 5 credit pass in their O' level including Mathematics and English language. People are trapped in history and history is trapped in us, this take me back to 2016 when I gained admission into Rufus Giwa Polytechnic, A friend of mine wanted to study Public Administration but she was not admitted because she had less than C6 in Mathematics.

Here is my first question to you, Mr Stephen Ogunleye, where on earth did you see students matriculated without a complete O'level results? *This accusations of yours is baseless*.

Mr Stephen, let me take you down the memory lane and take a look at the landslides of the institution.

Recently, RUGIPO  students represented the school in a National competition and won the HUAWEI competition.  An HND2 student of this same institution was the only Polytechnic student that was selected by *Africa Foundation For Young Media Professionals For Campus Journalism Training*, this citadel of learning has produced graduates who are performing well out there by contributing to the growth of the society.

Back then after my National Diploma I went for an interview at GTBank and I was the only Polytechnic students amidst of students from Federal, State and even Private Universities in Nigeria but I outshone all with my National Diploma certificate I gained from the school Mr Stephen is condemning.

Truly, the fact that some students buy their way out of school is undeniable (So it has been, since the beginning, in all tertiary institutions in Nigeria,  but you have forgotten the fact that we have numerous students in those schools burning midnight candles just to pass their exams.

I did both my National Diploma and Higher National Diploma in RUGIPO and I read day and night for the  grades I got from the institution.

You might have seen some students of RUGIPO not meeting your expectations but don't use them to judge all the students there.

Mr Stephen, I am so glad to know you're a proprietor of a school and there's probability that you're a teacher there, Are all your students bright on the same ground? Hell NO!

I am never sorry to say that you're so unlucky not to have met the bright and intelligent students of RUGIPO.

Daniel Rogan said *Do not let the hurt that someone else caused be the reason why you reject the love that someone want to give you* but  it's a sorry case for Mr Stephen who made a bad policy for his school not to employ graduates of RUGIPO because he met with one wrong person.

I am delighted and elated to let you know that the current Public Relations Officer of Achievers University is a graduate of RUGIPO, the owner of Veracity News graduated from this same school, the Chief Editor of Breez FM graduated from RUGIPO, we also have so many graduates of this great citadel of learning working in Adaba88.9fm,  the Head of Programme department of "Our People's FM" in Ekiti graduated from RUGIPO last year, some members of staff of Broadcast Service of Ekiti State, Osun State, Oyo State, Ondo State etc., even some of the Tvc correspondents graduated from RUGIPO, while some reporters working with Channels, Architects who have executed big projects, business and school owners, accountants all over the country (Check banks in Owo and Akure, you will find so many), Human Right Activists, renowned Politicians, the South-West Youth Parliament Speaker, Clerk and some members are also product of Rufus Giwa Polytechnic.

We also have so many graduates of Rufus Giwa Polytechnic lecturing and heading departments in some Nigeria institutions among others.

I wept for your school and the students that are enrolled there because I wonder why parents will commit the future of their wards in the hands of someone  who only see bad side of people and close his eyes to the good ones.

You should also note that posterity will judge you for that generalization about RUGIPO graduates.

I spent 4 good years in RUGIPO and I work hard for what I got there and I can defend it anytime, anyday and anywhere. I pen this to protect the image of my school from the eyes of negative viewer, who will look at my school good certificates with an ugly fiendish eye and ruin the positive qualities with their infected tongues.

Mr Stephen, you have made a horrible and terrible conclusion about my school and the lecturers there, Posterity await you.

However, I beseech the Management, Alumni, Leaders at all levels and all stakeholders to fish out Mr Stephen Ogunleye, and make him pay for defaming our dear institution.
