PANDEMONIUM AS SRC MEETING ENDS IN DEADLOCK

Pandemonium broke out at the hallow chamber as the Senate President, Omoyungbo Oluwatobi and the Chief Clerk, Augustine Idowu unveil the reason behind the irrational misconduct at the 4th constitutional sitting of the Senate representative Council (SRC) held on Wednesday (yesterday). 

Rugipo Press had earlier reported that some principal officers and some senators walked out of the hallow chamber while the meeting was going on.

Speaking with our correspondent, the Senate president, Omoyungbo Oluwatobi said the principal officers walked out on their own selfish interest due to the unfavorable decision taken by him. 

He said that the reasons for his actions was due to the statement made by some principal officers to him that if he didn't give some particular people position that there will be a problem.

"We disagree to agree anything, all I am doing is not outside the constitution, I am doing it based on the constitution, whatever I do today is not for my own will" He said.

"I practice democracy, even though the principal officers can as well decide but I am working according to the Constitution and not for my own selfish interest but for the Nigeria students." Oluwatobi said.

He noted that "He had trust in whom he appointed and has adequate believe in his capacity to doing things transparently, that he is not a leader who makes appointment based on over familiarity but does his own things on a plain ground.

"I believe in the person I choose, I believe in his capacity for I am not doing things based on familiarity that is why I appointed him as the capital budget Chairman.

However, Oluwatobi said that he will apply the strategy he studied in the course 'Human Resources Management(HRM) to deal with those that walked out of the hallow chamber.

On the contrary, the Chief Clark, Augustine Idowu while speaking with our correspondent said the Senate President had gone against their initial agreement, for his own selfish interest.

Idowu said; "he already promised the principal officers to give the post of capital budget to Senator Akeem after the principal officers voted but does otherwise"

"There are six principal officers in the house whereby 4 senators voted for senator Akeem and 2 voted for senator Toyin.

"I was surprised seeing the Senate president changing their agreement during the meeting to appoint senator Toyin.

"I Raised an observation but I was not observed by the Senate President and was ordered to be walked out by the security officers. Seeing this act, other principal officers walked out on their own will due to the incidence".
