It was an atmosphere filled with pomp and pageantry in Rufus Giwa Polytechnic Owo, RUGIPO, as the Student Union body of the institution welcomed the new intake into another phase of life as far as education is concerned.
The welcoming party tagged; 'Back to Campus' which was held at the institution's sport complex on Friday was graced by virtually all the SUG executives and some invited guests.
Speaking at the occasion, the Student Union Government,SUG, President, Olorunda Oluwafemi said the motive behind the welcoming party is to familiarize with the student by interacting and associating with them
"The essence of this Social Gathering is for you all not feel lonely or left out but rather be confident and bold to interact, associate and socialize with other people.
“All work and no play makes jack a dull boy and all hands are on deck to ensure students have an effective administration and a socialize environment where everything is not just going to be class but also enjoy and feel the vibes in the environment.
"The union is making sure that the students of the institution get everything they actually need in terms of Education, Ideology, Orientation and Showcasing their skills and talents." He said.
Meanwhile, Oluwafemi while speaking on the issue of insecurity in Nigeria said an Orientation programme for the Students will be held to enlighten the students on the need to be security conscious.
He however urged Nigerian students to stay focus on everything they do, not forgetting there primary assignment which is there first priority to study hard and come out in flying colors.
