Recession! recession! recession! Which is widely referred to as 'Sapa' has been the daily watchword among the citizens of the country, Nigeria, especially the middle and lower class. However, it's not limited to them but students of higher institute of learning are also highly affected either directly or indirectly.
In light of this, a walk of our reporter on the grounds of Rufus Giwa Polytechnic, Owo, (RUGIPO), today, revealed the state of affairs of some group of students within the vicinity of the institution who where seen preparing meals in a way popular among people living in a rural setting (making food with wood popularly known as firewood).

It is to be noted that cooking with firewood is not common in the present age as the use of gas cookers, oven, electrical appliances have taken over this cooking method which undoubtedly can be classified as ancient.
Report has it that, these set of students had gone extra mile earlier to look for casava to make fufu all by themselves to satiate their hunger.
They stressed that the high cost of living has become unbearable for them adding that, the market price of commodities are increasing daily.
They further explained that, the increase in gas refilling price is the main propeller of their resolve to cook their meals with firewood, so as to conserve the money they have on them for other things in the institution.
"We are happy doing this in as much we are not stealing to defile our reputation" they said.
