Following a viral news publication in some part of the new media with the caption " FUOYE students are far better than Rugipo in speaking correct English, Students of Rufus Giwa Polytechnic, Owo have described the Speaker of the aforementioned as a gain sayer whose words are far from the truth
It will be recalled that a 300 Level student of Federal University Oye-Ekiti, Kolawole A. Olaoluwa, popularly known as Woli Mafy earlier lambasted Rugipo students of not being able to speak correct English Language.
The President of Engineering department, Ikuejiminone Oluwaseun in his reaction said it is an incontrovertible fact that Rufus Giwa Polytechnic students do speaks Yoruba language often, but Judging of students for lack of speaking English is uncalled for.
Therefore, he insisted that an English language competition should be held to know the best between the two schools.
"An English Language competition between Mass Communication students or any other language speaking department with any department from their school should be held and see how it goes.
"We are really trying here in Rugipo and our students are so good and sound. He boasted.
"How will you condemn the whole students after seeing a few students speaking in Yoruba language. What are the parameters used in measuring the communication flow of students?"
"If there is a need for comparison, why not tell the both management to set a competition for the two schools and check how fluent most of our students are.
"I wish you go to the department of Mass communication and Engineering department, see how focused they are, then you'll know, success is not done by English alone.
"Don't even compare my school with your school, I can bet it with you, we are more than you people" He said.
An HND2 Office Technology and Management student in Rugipo who pleaded anonymity said though Rugipo students mostly enjoy speaking in Yoruba language, but in their field of study, they are doing quite well."
In a contrary opinion, an ND1 Science Laboratory Technology, Aluko, Iyanuoluwa said the Speaker, Kolawole Olaoluwa's comment about Rufus Giwa Polytechnic students is a complete truth, but only limited to those students who reside in Owo.
"Although, those students from other parts of the country in the institution communicate well in English language," she added.

Sincerely, rugipo students vocabulary is bad. I had an encounter with some of them during my siwes program and I was like , what the fuck. There was a time some of the gathered and one of them called dictation for them but funny enough, they can't spell "bile" 😂
