BEDC Electricity PLC Make History in RUGIPO

The Benin Electricity Distribution Company (BEDC), have expressed supportive gesture towards a physically challenged student of Rufus Giwa Polytechnic, (RUGIPO), Owo, Ondo State.
The Corporate, Social and Responsibility team of BEDC Electricity PLC., led by the Chief State Head of Ondo State and Ekiti State, Mrs. Kumbi Labiyi recently surprised Ojo Temitope Israel with some electronic gadgets on Wednesday, 17th of November, 2021, in order to sustain and promote his academic career.
The BEDC Electricity PLC, which is saddled with the responsibility of distributing power supply across Nigeria and beyond, have brought hope and life to mankind through their Corporate, Social and Responsibility team, to improve the life of Ojo Temitope Israel which is unusual.
However, Ojo, who is an HND 1 student of the above named institution, from the Department of Mass Communication, is a very skillful and talented personnel who is a Music Producer, an Advert Manager, among others, despite his disability (Blindness).
Moreso, on the team's arrival to the citadel of learning, they were officially received by the School Management, who were represented by the Deputy Rector on Academics, Olorunwa Adegun, Dean of Student Affairs, Henry Olu-Braimoh and the HOD of Mass Communication Department, Adedowole Florence Iyadunni, at the old Council Room, located inside the institution.
In an interview session with the team leader, at the school's radio station, RUGIPO 103.3 F.M, Mrs. Kumbi Labiyi explained that it had been a regular practice of the company to help the needy and educate citizens on issues about the BEDC Electricity PLC.
She stressed that the team visited Saint Luis Grammar School, Owo, where they enlightened and supported the school with some educative materials, before they journeyed down to RUGIPO, in order to visit Ojo Temitope Israel for the first time.
Kumbi further said ''Ojo Temitope was someone we saw on social media last year, 2020, when the COVID-19 Pandemic was severe. Ojo released a video clip, where he disclosed his identity, expressed sadness over his status and requested for the support of Nigerians''.
She added that, the BEDC Electricity PLC, would be responsible for Ojo's tuition fees and other financial bills throughout his Higher National Diploma (HND) programme in the institution.
Meanwhile, in a separate interview with Ojo, he reaffirmed the statement of Mrs. Kumbi and stressed that one of his lecturers, Mr. Sunday Afolayan and his brother, who is not a staff of the institution, but the H. R. Business Partner of the BEDC company, Davis Afolayan were those behind the initiative.
Ojo emotionally appreciated the kind gesture of the company and promised to use the electronic gadgets given to him such as Laptop, Keyboard, Digital Recorder and Brawler for reading, alongside some cash prizes for the edification of his academic career.
Moreover, the BEDC Electricity PLC team leader, Mr. Kumbi advised other individuals or organizations capable of assisting the needy and vulnerable people around their vicinity to help them voluntarily.
In addendum, the H.O.D., Mrs. Adedowole and the School Management in general, applauded and appreciated the team with some gifts.
