The Dean of Students Affairs of Rufus Giwa Polytechnic, Owo, Mr. Henry Olu-braimoh has advised the institution community to remain calm over the suspension of Student Union Government (S.U.G) President, Gen. Sec. and P.R.O., by the Students Representative Council (S.R.C.).
The Dean said this in the early hours of today, during a telephone interview with our correspondent.
Olu-braimoh added that the issue will soon be resolved, as the School Management is currently on top of the situation.
It was revealed that the suspension was a result of the defamatory language ''fraudulent and illegal'' used by S.U.G in their press release against the circular released through the office of the Directorate of Students Affair on 24th of May, 2021.
However, this term was based on Ondo State students paying an annual due or fee of Five Hundred Naira (#500) to the National Association Of Ondo State Students (NAOSS).
Following an exclusive interview with the Senate President, Senator Oyenyen Adebayo Julius explained that the foul language (fraudulent and illegal) used on a circular released by the S.U.G. some days ago, led to their one week suspension by the Hallow Chamber, after series of deliberation on a motion moved by members of the Senate.
Adebayo further stressed that the Union's action was based on her constitution.
Meanwhile, in a phone interview with the S.U.G. President, Comr. Omoboni Olusola (Excellent), reaffirmed the suspension by the Hallow Chamber on Friday, 4th of June, 2021.
In addendum, Omoboni advised that the Union should maintain peace on campus and work together as one body, in order to achieve their main goal and bring back hope of development to the Institution.
Furthermore, in another interview with the S.U.G. Public Relations Officer, Comr. Ojo Ademola said the S.R.C. had the constitutional right to take actions on issues brought to their Chamber.
Speaking on their suspension, he said ''we are fighting for the Nigerian students. The Nigerian students are not convenient paying a lot of dues on campus and if this NAOSS due is embraced, it will give room to other legal state associations such as National Association of Nigeria Students (NANS), among others who may want their dues to be implemented too, and this may not be convenient for the Nigerian students.''
Ademola added that the S.U.G. Executives were not aware of the circular released by the Management before it was circulated.
However, all effort to speak with the NAOSS President, Abraham Bada proved abortive.
