The Faculty of Engineering Technology has defeated the Faculty of Agricultural Technology in another preliminary match of the Alumni Sport Competition.
The football encounter ended 2:0 in favour of the Faculty of Engineering Technology, with a brace from their striker, Olawoye Samuel (Jersey number 7).
The match was played at the institution's Sport Complex today Wednesday, 16th of June, 2021.
In an interview session with the Assistant Coach of the Faculty of Engineering Technology, Kayode Ayobami said he was delighted to win the football match.
In his words, ''The Faculty is aiming to win the Alumni Football Competition by the grace of God''.
Furthermore, the Captain of the team, Adedoye Isaac expressed his gladness over their team's victory against their rival and glorified God Almighty.
In another interview with the Faculty of Agricultural Technology Coach, Ogbegere Oluwayemi Joseph stressed that the match was fair and great.
Joseph said ''I am optimistic that my team will come out with flying colours during the next match with the Faculty of Business, by the grace of God''.
However, in the early hours of today, the Faculty of Applied Science defeated Faculty of Environmental Studies by *1:0*.
Speaking with Roy Dennis, an Environmental team player after the encounter, he said fatigue was a major course of their loss, because their team was not given enough time to relax after the first preliminary match on Tuesday, against Continuous Education Centre (C.E.T.) Part Time.
However, Dennis expressed sadness over the way the match was officiated by the Centre Referee.
In addition, on the female preliminary match played today, between the Faculty of Business Studies and Faculty of Applied Science ended in a draw (1:1).
Blessing Bamisile was the goal scorer for the Faculty of Business Studies, while Odofin Mofeola equalized for the Faculty of Applied Science.
Meanwhile, fans were present to cheer up their teams throughout today's tournament, which were played at different hours.
Furthermore, Officials and Dignitaries who graced the competition were Centre Referee, Ajayi Ebinizer, Assistant Referee, Obaude Kabiru, Alumni National President (RUGIPO Chapter), Olufemi Eyinola, Alumni Gen. Sec., Obanoyen Abiola, Coach Akabiri Emmanuel, Coach Olumide Angelo, S.U.G. President, Omoboni Olusola J., First Aider, Mrs. Olanrewaju E.O., among others.
