ALUMNI ATHLETIC GAMES: FACULTY OF APPLIED SCIENCE WINS MOST MEDALS

The Faculty of Applied Science has been crowned champions of the just concluded Alumni Athletic Games, for the year 2021.

This was confirmed after the Faculty clinched six (6) medals, during the athletic games organized by the Alumni Association of Rufus Giwa Polytechnic, Owo, Ondo State.

According to report, the Faculty of Applied Science won four (4) Gold, one (1) Silver and one (1) Bronze medal.

The athletes who represented Faculty of Applied Science were Williams Ayoola A. (1st in Male 100meters), Odofin Mofeola (1st in Female 200meters), Balogun Friday (1st in Male 200meters), Williams Ayoola A. (1st in Male Team Relay), Odofin Mofeola (2nd in Female Team Relay) and Omotayo Oyindamola (3rd in Female 100meters).

Furthermore, the second faculty which had the most quality medals was the Faculty of Business Studies (A.B.S.), with two (2) Gold medals and one (1) Bronze medal.

Athletes who represented A.B.S. were Efosa Patience (1st in Female 100meters and 1st in Team Relay) and Adewumi Tobiloba (3rd in Male Team Relay).

In addition, the Faculty of Social Sciences and Communication Studies clinched the third overall medal position, winning three (3) Silver medals.

Representatives were Afuye Seyi Mercy (2nd in Female 100meters), Adeoye Adeola (2nd in Female 200meters) and Babalola Odunayo V. (2nd in Male 200meters).

Moreso, the fourth overall team was the Faculty of Engineering Technology, who won two (2) Silver medals.

Athletes who represented the Faculty of Engineering Technology were Akeju Ayodele (2nd in Female 100meters) and Abidoye Taiwo Isaac (2nd in Male Team Relay).

In furtherance of this, Faculty of Environmental Technology and Continuous Education Centre (C.E.C.) Part Time Studies, shared the least overall position after both teams won two (2) Bronze medals each.

Athletes who represented Faculty of Environmental Technology were Ikumosin Taiwo (3rd in Female 200meters) and Adedeji Morolake (3rd in Female Team Relay).

Meanwhile, the athletes who represented C.E.C. was Olowoselu Adekunle (3rd in Male 100meters and 200meters). 

However, all the top three athletes for each category (Males and Females), were given medals such as Gold, Silver, Bronze and Cash Prices.

However, students came en-masse  to support their respective teams with chant, songs of different kind, trumpets, beating of drum set and dance steps, while the D.J. invited also made the competition eminent.

Dignitaries present were RUGIPO Rector, Gani Ogundahunsi, Deputy Rector of Admin., Dr. Samuel Alagha, Oniyere of Iyere, Oba Alaba Ebiyomi, National President of Alumni (RUGIPO Chapter), Olufemi Eyinola, Alumni Gen. Sec., Obanoyen Abiola, Prof. Isaac Oluwalana and Wife, Chief Obayanju Fatai, Engr. Olayinka Osho, De. Akinwale Rotimi, RUGIPO P.R.O. Rep., Mr. Olugosi Olumide, Hon. Olotu Fatai, Vice Chairman Alumni (Akure Chapter), Engr. Beremoye Adeoye, Coach Bayode Rufai, Coach Agaja Grace, First Aider, Nurse Adeoye Kofoworola, Referees, Mr, Imolehin Ayodeji, Mr. Temitope Obasade, Mr. Ajayi Ebenezer, Mr. Obaude Kabiru, Coach Olumide Angelo (Commentator 1), Akinwale Roland (Commentator 2), S.U.E.C. Executives, Faculty Executives, Departmental Executives,  Comr. Iwatan Iseoluwa P. (Atila), Security Officers, Lecturers, among others.
