Omoboni Olushola Joseph also known as Excellent2k20 has been declared winner of the Student Union Government election held on Wednesday 21th April on the campus of Rufus Giwa Polytechnic, Owo, Ondo State.
Announcing the result, chairman of RUGIPO Independent Student Electoral Commission ISEC, Agbim Samuel, declared Excellent2k20 president elect of RUGIPO SUG after polling 674 votes over his opponent Ogunleye Oluwabunmi Michael popularly known as Machoosha2k20 who got 250 votes.
The election which adopted an electronic voting model at the institution's and described as free and fair also produced Ojo Iyanuoluwa Tosin, who secured the unopposed seat of the union's vice president after securing 806 vote.
Other contestants who emerged victorious at the polls are Sunday Busayo Issac a.k.a Omoshaggy2k20 who was declared the Social Director elect after getting 649 votes to beat his contender Ajibola Victor Olajide (Avop2k20) who was able to get 215 votes. Public Relations Officer, Ojo Ademola Alex(Demzy2k20) gathered 807 votes to secure the information office.
Treasurer: Obaado Sunday Ezekiel (Obaado2k20) was declared treasurer after polling 549 vote to defeat his opponent
Makun Jamiu (Makun2k20) who got 252 votes.
Bepo Temitope Adetutu (Temitope2k20) got 627 votes over Falaye Abiodun Damilola's (A12k20) 238 Votes to win the office of the SUG Welfare Director.
Ologunloye oluwaseun Olalekan (No 1) emerged as Sport Director with 672 vote
The office of the General Secretary, Financial Secretary, Assistant General Secretary, *Public Relation Officer* have not be declared due to contestants' inability to present their Cummulative Grade Point Average (CGPA), which is a requirement for occupying elective offices at the SUG level
Speaking on the conduct of the election,the Director of ICT, *ADD HIS NAME* described the election as being the freest and fairest in the institution, h also wished all elected executives success in their tenure.
In similar vein, the Dean of Students Affairs. Mr.Olu-Ibraimoh thanks the students for casting their vote, and he further advise the winners to serve with humility, and work hard while making the welfare of the students their utmost priority.
Also commending the effort of key stake holders,the Dean of the Directorate of Student Affairs, Mr. Oloye M.O. appreciated members of the Press, ISEC officers Agents, and contestants for their maturity during the conduct of the election. He therefore Implore the electorates to work in unity for the success of Institutions.
